We greatly appreciate the assistance of those members who arrive early to setup or stay back after the demo to clean up.  The Society depends entirely on volunteers and it is only through their efforts that we can continue.  If you wish to help at the demos or any other events, please speak to a member of the committee.

Charles Evans - Landscape in watercolour

There was a bumper turnout at the latest York Art Society demonstration, featuring published artist Charles Evans who created not one but two watercolours in the afternoon. As if this wasn't enough, Charles also shared his tips and techniques for painting sheep, birds and people using basic shapes and letters. Who would have thought that a flying goose can be created by the shape of a loaf of bread! Or a seagull consisting of a "tick with a stick"! Thank you to Charles for sharing his passion with us in a fun and engaging manner.

November Demonstration

The next meeting of York Art Society takes place on Saturday 12th November at the usual venue of Christ Church Hall, Stockton Lane, York.

The demonstrating artist this time is Charles Evans.

Born in the West Riding, Charles is an accomplished water colourist who has exhibited widely since his first one man show in 1983 and frequently appears on Tyne Tees and Discovery Real Time.  He is also a regular contributor to various art magazines.

You can read more about Charles and see examples of his work over on his own site

Entry to this Saturday's YAS demonstration is free for members and £5 for guests. The demonstration starts at 2:00pm and runs for approximately two to two and a half hours with a midway break for refreshments.

As always, it would be appreciated if some members could arrive early to help with setting up the room and equipment.  The Society depends entirely on the time and efforts of volunteers and we always need fresh offers of help if we are to continue to service the members.
