Final Day of the 201st Exhibition

Well, that's the end of our spring exhibition at the De Grey Rooms.   After a steady stream of visitors across the week we closed at 3pm this afternoon.  Thanks to everyone who assisted in the clean up, we had all unsold work collected and the boards dis-assembled by the end of the afternoon.

Post-exhibition clean-up time.

In total we sold 25 framed pictures from the exhibition, plus a substantial number of cards, prints and unframed originals.

Thanks once again to Shannon Morgan for masterminding the event.  We'd also like to extend our gratitude to to all participating members, everyone else who came along to support and to Caitlin and her crew at the De Grey Rooms.  We hope to be back there for our 202nd show later this year,

That just leaves the cashing up and number crunching.  Any members who made a sale can expect their cheques in the  post by June 13th.

Collecting Work After The Exhibition

Hopefully most members have had a chance to get along to the De Grey Rooms to see this spring's exhibition, one of the strongest and most varied selections we've had for a long time. If you've not been down there yet, there's still time as the Exhibition continues until this Sunday 31st May.

As outlined on the entry forms, any unsold work can be collected between 4:00pm and 5:00pm on Sunday.  We want to leave the art on display for as long as possible.  Last public entry on Sunday is at 3:00pm so we ask that no member attempts to remove their pictures before 4:00pm at the earliest.

We also encourage all members to follow the proper check out procedures as it enables the committee to resolve any disputes over mislaid work.

Our spring show is now well underway, kicked off tonight by a lively preview night at the De Grey Rooms in York.  The evening was opened by our Chairman Peter Cooke.  Our guests enjoyed a fine evening of art with light refreshments and a musical backdrop provided by Thirsk-based pianist Jean Hotton.

The work was of an extremely high standard from both regular established names and newcomers.  Featured artists include Luisa Holden, Sam Mortimer, Raske Jaske, Lin Taylor, Caroline Lewis, Jelena Lunge and Phil Hart.

Luisa once again was awarded the Selector's choice and Sam won the Public Vote for favourite picture. Thanks to Kim from Blossom Street Gallery  for ably filling the role of this year's selector.

The show continues until Sunday 31st May and is open to the public, free of charge, daily from 10:00am.  Drop in if you're in town this week.
