Preparing Plaques for the Preview Evening.

If you were at the October demo you probably saw the pop-up exhibit of plaques presented by Julie Lightburn.  The full range will be on display at tomorrow's Exhibition Preview Evening, from 7:00pm at the DeGrey Rooms.

Over to Julie for an update on the project ...............

“A big thank you to everyone who has contributed so far and I look forward to receiving more at the handing in day.  I have thoroughly enjoyed putting this together – it’s like Christmas every time the postman arrives.

There are delicate watercolours, bold acrylics, detailed oils; collages, abstracts and cartoons; landscapes, still-lives, wildlife, and portraits . . . . something for all tastes.

Initially we’re holding a silent auction at the preview evening and the remainder will all be sold at a set price of just £5.00 throughout the rest of the week. Each will be sold with a gift envelope.

We are also going to be selling Tote bags with a selection of the artworks on them, again at just £5 – a great memento of the 200th exhibition and also perfect as a Christmas gift.”

Julie.

Thanks to Julie for all her work coordinating this project and, after three months of staring at miniature works of art, we imagine she's looking forward to seeing the world in Cinemascope again.

Robert Brindley at Newton on Ouse in October

Our colleagues over at Newton on Ouse Art Group tell us they still have a few places left on this coming weekend's Robert Brindley Workshop, and are extending an invite to any York Art Society members who might like to attend on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October.

The cost for the two days is £40 to YAS members.  The sessions start at 10.00 each day. Robert works in most mediums.  Attendees will be working on their own pieces in the afternoons following a demonstration by Robert each morning.

If anyone is interested or has any questions,  please ask contact Marianne by emailing marianne@ansabd.co.uk

Art & Pottery Exhibition in November

Last Saturday was another successful day at St Michael le Belfrey for several members of York Art Society who were raising funds for homeless charity the Never Give Up Group.

We're pleased to say that the event will be repeated towards the end of  November.

Anyone interested in this or future exhibitions at the church should contact Lin Taylor directly on  lindaataylor36@gmail.com

Closing Date for Entries for the 200th Exhibition

A timely reminder that the closing date for our 200th Exhibition is Wednesday 15th October.  So if you've not yet returned your entry form, please make every effort to get it back to Shannon by that date.

If you've lost your entry form or require another copy, you can get a PDF version from our downloads page or our official website.

One Day Exhibition October 11th

Another of the popular local art exhibitions at St Michael le Belfrey takes place next weekend.

This time it's for one day only, Saturday 11th October, but as in the past it's helping to raise money for local causes - the Alpha group and homeless charity Never Give Up.

And yes that does clash with our next meeting - but the Exhibition starts from 9:00 am so you have plenty of time to drop in before coming along to the YAS demo at 2:00 pm.
